In a poignant moment of remembrance, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Herbert Christopher Dharmasiri, a distinguished alumnus of St. Anne's College. With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to a remarkable individual who left an indelible mark on our beloved College and the lives of those he touched. Dr. Dharmasiri, whose passing occurred on May 9th, will forever be cherished as an exceptional member of the Annite family.

Throughout his journey, Dr. Dharmasiri harbored a profound love and gratitude for our esteemed institution, along with a deep appreciation for the Reverend Brothers and dedicated teachers who shaped his formative years. St. Anne's College held a special place in his heart, and he spoke of it with great fondness and pride. His eyes would light up with joy and nostalgia as he regaled stories from his time spent within the hallowed halls.

During his schooling, Dr. Dharmasiri resided at the College hostel, immersing himself fully in the vibrant community of Annites. It was during these years that he developed lifelong friendships and forged bonds that would withstand the test of time. Worth mentioning is the fact that his cousin, who happened to be the cricket captain, played a significant role in leading our College to numerous victories on the field.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Christopher Dharmasiri, a distinguished alumnus of St. Anne's College and the first student from our institution to be selected for Medical College. Dr. Dharmasiri peacefully departed from this world on May 9, at the age of 92.

The funeral service of Dr. Dharmasiri will be held on Saturday, May 13. The procession will commence from his residence at 66/1 St. Peter's Road, Moratuwa, at 3.30 PM, proceeding to St. Peter's Church, Koralawella, Moratuwa, where the burial will take place.

He held a deep affection for his alma mater and consistently demonstrated steadfast support for St. Anne's College. Earlier this year, he graced us with his presence, visiting the College that held a special place in his heart. The memory of Dr. Dharmasiri will forever be treasured by the St. Anne's College community.

May his soul Rest in Peace. May he attain the Supreme Bliss of Nibbana.

Heroes are not born when things are easy but when things are quite difficult. Today, we are celebrating the life and legacy of a hero who stepped in when things seemed challenging and oversaw a pivotal era in our College's history. He taught us to believe in ourselves and not to give up whatever the circumstance is. This sums up the true Annites spirit of Possumus.

As a fair and kind leader and mentor, he treated everyone with dignity and worked hard to understand the students and gave them the right opportunities to shine while solving the problems they faced. He broadened the horizon for our boys far beyond academia to open up a whole host of opportunities in extracurricular activities. He kept little time to himself and was visibly active all over the College. His recurring walks beginning well before the morning chimes and continuing well into the afternoon trying to connect with students and teachers were an obvious sight still remembered today.

It's often easy to take things for granted, but it takes a person with great vision and actions to make the things we take for granted a reality. The tenure of Rev. Bro. Denzil Mendis holds a special place in our journey as a College to get us to where we are today.

It's been 10 years, but it almost felt like yesterday. You may have gone to a better place, but the positive impact you had on our College as our beloved mentor and on society as a messenger of God is immortal and your legacy will live on.
