In a world that is constantly pursuing materialistic ambitions and immersed in a competitive and fast-paced atmosphere, Lord Buddha showed a path to happiness that transcends contemporary means. By directing the focus towards the mind and eliminating cravings and agitations, Lord Buddha provided a way to bring eternal peace to all, without requiring any material possessions.
 
As we commemorate the birth, enlightenment, and passing of Lord Buddha, we shall reflect on his teachings and strive to incorporate them into our lives. Let us extend love and compassion to all beings and work towards creating a fairer and more peaceful world. We wish you a happy Vesak Day from St. Anne's College.

Our alumnus, Nipuna Wijayabandara, has recently made his debut as a news anchor on Newsfirst. Nipuna's journey from the Annite Media Team to national television is truly inspiring, and we wish him all the best for his new venture. We hope that one day Nipuna will become a renowned media icon.

We are pleased to share that St. Anne's College alumnus Lakmal Ratnayake has been appointed as Director of Sri Lankan Airlines. With a career spanning various leadership roles, Lakmal brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this position.

Prior to his appointment, Lakmal has served as the Chairman of the National Institute of Co-operative Development, The Co-operative Wholesale Establishment, Sri Lanka Port Management and Consultancy Services (Private) Limited, and has also held the position of Director at the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. He has been a Board Member of Sri Lanka Coal Company (Private) Limited and Colombo International Container Terminals Limited, and currently serves as the Chairman of Jaya Container Terminals Limited.

Lakmal has been practicing law since 2003 and is an Attorney at Law of the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka. His dedication and commitment to excellence have earned him this appointment as Director of Sri Lankan Airlines.

We congratulate Lakmal Ratnayake on his appointment and wish him all the success in his new role.
