As the 2023 (2024) Senior Schools Karate Championship is currently underway, it's a good time to reflect on the achievements of our junior athletes in the previously held 2023 Junior Schools Karate Championship, where our junior players achieved the Runner-up position by securing a total of 11 medals including 4 Gold, 3 Silver, and 4 Bronze.

Here's the breakdown of the medals:

Gold

  • D.M.B.K. Dassanayake – Kata (Under 08)
  • V.L.P.S.V. Vitharana – Kata (Under 11)
  • G.D.T.D. Fernando – Kata (Under 11)
  • G.K.A.N.S. Perera – Kumite (35 kg)

Silver

  • G.K.R.D.T. Perera – Kata (Under 10)
  • G.K.A.N.S. Perera – Kata (Under 11)
  • K.S.D. Weerathunga – Kumite (35 kg)

Bronze

  • S.M.R.M. Samarakoon – Kata (Under 08)
  • O.D.A.P. Oodugama – Kata (Under 10)
  • V.L.P.S.P. Vitharana – Kata (Under 13)
  • G.D.T.D. Fernando – Kumite (35 kg)

Additionally, the Kata Team, consisting of G.K.A.N.S. Perera, V.L.P.S.V. Vitharana, and G.D.T.D. Fernando, secured a place among the 'Best Eight' teams. Meanwhile, H.S.W.S. Perera achieved a similar placement in the Under 09 Kata event.
